WORCESTER, Mass. --- The Colby College men's varsity 8 crew placed fourth and the women's crew took seventh at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta on Saturday.
The Colby men had a time of 14 minutes, 46.9 seconds over the 4,000-meter course in a field of 20 boats. The second Colby men's crew took 17th place. WPI was the winner of the men's race in 14:07.3 and was followed by Holy Cross and Bates. The Mules were about four seconds behind Bates, a closer deficit than a year ago.
In women's racing, Colby took seventh out of 25 crews in a time of 17:53.1. The second Colby boat placed 18th, while Mount Holyoke won the competition in 16:49.9.
The Colby men's varsity 4 boat took fourth place out of seven boats with a time of 16:52. Boston College won the race in 16:32.
The women's varsity 4 boat was seventh of nine finishers in a time of 21:44.0. WPI took the event in 19:05.0.
The Mules will compete in the Head of the Charles Regatta next Saturday and Sunday in Cambridge, Mass.
