GREENE, Maine --- In a close Presidents Cup competition, the Colby College crews finished with 10 points to take third place behind Bates College and Bowdoin College in racing on the Androscoggin River on Sunday. Bates and Bowdoin finished in a tie with 13 points, but the Bobcats kept the Presidents Cup as the winner from last year. Colby and Bates are the only winners of the Cup in the 13-year history of the event. The Colby varsity 8 men had to settle for third place with a
6:27, just behind second place Bowdoin (6:26) and less than 10 seconds in back
of Bates (6:18) over the 2,000-meter course. In second varsity 8 racing, Bates
had a time of 6:31 in beating the Mules (6:51). Bowdoin took the varsity four women's race with a 7:59 and Colby had an 8:20. Bates took the novice four in 8:21 to Colby's 8:55.
