WORCESTER, Mass. --- The Colby College men's varsity 8 crew won the Petite Final (places 7 to 12) after narrowly missing the Grand Final at the New England Rowing Championships on Saturday.
The Mules took the Petite Final race in 6:03.453, a time which would have put Colby fifth in the Grand Final. The Mules had a time of 5:58.581 in heat two. University of New Hampshire was the last boat to qualify for the Grand Final with a 5:57.720.
Meanwhile, the Colby women's varsity 8 finished sixth in heat three of qualifying with a 7:07.753 clocking. The crew competed in the third final and had a 7:19.762 to finish fourth of five boats.
In men's second varsity 8 racing, Colby qualified for the final and finished with a time of 6:18.946 in the Grand Final. The Mules had a 6:13.116 in heat racing.
The Colby men's third varsity 8 boat took fourth place with a 6:39.785 in the Grand Final.
The women's third varsity 8 boat took fifth place out of five teams in 7:25.323.
