WORCESTER, Mass. --- The third-ranked Colby College women's varsity crew won for the second time this spring with victories over Smith College, WPI and Wesleyan University in rowing Saturday.
The Colby women showed why they are ranked third nationally by defeating eighth-ranked Smith and 11th-ranked WPI. The Mules had a time of 7:13.9 to Smith's 7:15.83, a 7:23.75 for WPI and a 7:47.97 for Wesleyan.
In men's varsity eight racing, Colby placed fourth behind Wesleyan, University of Massachusetts and WPI. Wesleyan easily won the race in 6:12.96, but the Mules (6:26.36) were right with UMass (6:22.33) and WPI (6:24.18).
The Colby women's second varsity eight boat took fourth place in 7:48.54 behind winner Williams (7:17.8), Smith (7:31.32) and Holy Cross (7:45.17).
The men's varsity four boat placed second in 7:33.43 to WPI (7:20.2) and was ahead of UMass (7:34.62).
