Crews both make semifinals at ECAC meet

WHITNEY POINT, N.Y. --- The Colby College varsity crews will both race in the semifinals after opening round rowing at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Invitational on Saturday.

The Colby women placed second out of five teams in one of the four varsity eight women's heats. The Mules had a time of 6:53.223 in losing to Williams College (6:42.417) and beating Vassar College (6:57.162), Skidmore College (7:01.353) and Wellesley College (7:03.138).

The Colby women had the 10th best time of all the boats in the four heats. The Mules will need to finish in the top six in Sunday's 10:50 a.m. semifinal for a chance to run in the Grand Final (places 1-6).

The Colby men placed fifth out of six boats in the third heat Saturday with a time of 6:06.473. The men will race in an 11:50 a.m. semifinal.
