Women's cross country finishes 17th

HANOVER, Ind. --- Cassi Knight placed 36th overall and the Colby College women’s cross country team had another top 20 finish at the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday at Hanover College.

Colby placed 17th overall with a score of 403. The Mules were third among New England Small College Athletic Conference schools behind champion Middlebury College and third place Williams College.

Knight just missed All-America honors (top 35 earn honor) with her time of 21 minutes, 45.06 seconds over the 6-kilometer course. Katrina Gravel was 49th in 22:02.11 and teammate Emma Linhard was 77th in 22:15.53. Devan FitzPatrick placed 192nd in 23:16.76, Jennifer MacDowell was 212th in 23:24.62, Nora McCall took 229th in 23:40.74, and Hannah Taska was 249th in 23:57.55.

Marie Borner of Bethel College won the women’s title with a time of 20:43.91. Amherst’s Elise Tropiano was second in 20:52.96.
