WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College point guard Nick Farrell (Aspen/Aspen, Colo.), who earned tournament most valuable player honors at the Maine Event, was honored as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending December 31.
Farrell averaged 16 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists as the Mules beat University of Southern Maine and Saint Joseph's College. He opened the tourney with 14 points, six rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists in a 78-59 win against Southern Maine. Farrell had 18 points, seven assists and five rebounds in a 73-61 championship game win over Saint Joseph's.
Farrell, a senior co-captain, has been instrumental in the Mules' five-game winning streak and 7-3 record heading into Tuesday night's road game at Springfield College. He leads Colby in scoring (18.1), assists (5.2), steals (2.1) and minutes played (34.7 per game).
In the latest NESCAC statistics, Farrell is third in the conference in scoring, third in steals, sixth in assists and eighth in free throw percentage (.781).
Farrell has 773 points and 349 assists in his four-year career with the Mules.
