WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College football player Tom Daley (Bridgton Academy/North Bridgton, Maine) was selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast Division III Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his play against Hamilton College on Saturday.
Daley had just earned the New England Small College Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week honor on Monday. He shares the ECAC award with Alvin Morris of University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth.
Daley had an interception, fumble recovery, and recorded six tackles in Colby’s 16-13 victory over Hamilton. Daley’s interception with 7:36 left in the game halted Hamilton’s drive on Colby’s 18-yard line, while his fumble recovery came on the last play of the game at the Colby 20.
Daley, a senior defensive back and co-captain, is tied for the team lead in total tackles with 31 and leads the Mules in fumble recoveries (4) and pass break-ups (4). Daley also returns kicks for the Mules and has a 21.6-yard kickoff return average and a 6.8-yard punt return mark.
Colby (3-2) will play at Bates College at 1 p.m. Saturday in the first game of the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin (CBB) rivalry.
