WATERVILLE, Maine --- Lindsay Davies (Greenwich, Conn.) scored two second-half goals to offset two scores by Colby College's Heather Quadir (Medfield, Mass.) as the Williams College field hockey team held on for a 4-3 win over the Mules at Bill Alfond Field on Saturday. Williams is 3-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference, while the Mules are 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the conference. Colby has scored three goals in all three of its conference games, but have suffered two 4-3 losses. The Ephs led 2-0 at halftime on goals by Lucy Rollins (Rye, N.Y.) at 11:48 and then Whitney Thayer (Lancaster, Pa.) off a penalty corner at 19:46. Quadir scored just 25 seconds into the second half off an assist from Lucy Gerrity (Cumberland, Maine) to cut the margin in half. Davies, though, tallied at 40:43 and 45:33 to make it 4-1. She got the second goal off the second assist on the day from Alice Bearn (Bethlehem, Pa.). Quadir cut the lead in half again on an unassisted goal with 9:14 to play to give her seven goals on the season. The Mules tallied with just 1.4 seconds left on a penalty corner when Courtney Erskine (Turner, Maine) got her third goal. Both goalies played well despite the amount of goals. Meanwhile, Liz Fontaine (Wilbraham, Mass.) made 10 stops. Williams 4, Colby 3 Williams............ 2 2 - 4 Colby............... 0 3 - 3
