Field hockey loses tight game to Camels

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Jill Mauer (Millbrook, N.Y.) had two goals and one assist to power the Connecticut College field hockey team to a 3-2 win over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday at Bill Alfond Field.

Connecticut College (6-6, 2-5 NESCAC) scored two goals in a span of 3:11 late in the game to pull out the victory. With Colby leading 2-1, Kelsey Fredericks (Nantucket, Mass.) tied the game with 10:41 remaining off a Mauer assist. Mauer then got the game-winning goal with 7:30 remaining.

Mauer gave the Camels a 1-0 lead in the first half with an unassisted goal with 18:38 remaining. However, Colby tied the game at 1-1 at intermission when Frazer Humes (Littleton, Colo.) tallied with 4:34 left off a pass from Chrissy Maloney (Wellesley, Mass.).

The Mules (3-9, 1-7) took their first lead of the game when leading scorer Mary Clare Snediker (New Canaan, Conn.) knocked in a goal off a pass from Kyla Wagman (Potomac, Md.) with 14:24 left in the contest.

Jamie Sheahan (South Burlington, Vt.) made four stops for the Camels, while Jamie Enos (South Hamilton, Mass.) made 10 saves for Colby.
