HENNIKER, N.H.—The Colby College field hockey team capped off a big offensive weekend with four more goals in a 4-1 non-conference win over New England College on Sunday.
The Mules (2-3 overall) finished with seven goals in two games after falling 4-3 in overtime to Williams College on Saturday.
Colby tri-captain Meryl Poulin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) totaled two goals and an assist to lead the Mules.
NEC (3-6) would strike first 1:25 into the game on Emily Kuchta's (Norwalk, Conn.) sixth goal of the season off an assist from Samantha Escobar (Rumney, N.H.).
The Mules answered with two goals for a 2-1 lead at intermission. Hannah O'Brien (Wolfeboro Falls, N.H.) tallied off a pass from Olivia Lattanzi (Milton, Mass.) at the 14:28 mark, and Poulin connected on a pass from Hali Castleman (Wilbraham, Mass.) at the 26:21 mark.
Poulin tallied again with just over 17 minutes left to play in the second half off an assist from O'Brien. Caitlyn Lancaster (Cornville, Maine) scored an insurance goal at the 63:26 mark on an assist by Poulin.
Liz Fontaine (Wilbraham, Mass.) earned the win in net for Colby, recording four saves before giving way to Michelle Burt (Woodbridge, Conn.) who also recorded four saves in her first collegiate appearance.
Colby College returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Thomas College at 7:00 p.m.
