Colby golf finishes 1-2 in own invitational

WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Colby College white team of Tripp Huber, Harry Smith, Taggert Martin, Thomas Lampert, and Billy Pettengill had a score of minus-14 to win the Colby Invitational at the Waterville Country Club in the golf season opener Saturday.

The Colby blue team was right behind the white team with a score of minus-13 for second place. Maine-Farmington (minus-12), Maine Maritime Academy (minus-7), and Maine-Presque Isle (minus-4) were the other teams in the scramble format tourney.

Huber, Smith, and Martin all were part of the winning Colby team in the invitational last year. Both Colby teams also finished 1-2 in last year's tourney. The Mules will host the Colby Classic on Sunday at noon at the Waterville Country Club.
