VASSALBORO, Maine --- Hans Noering finished tied for sixth place overall in helping the Colby College golf team place fourth at the Maine State Tournament on Saturday at Natanis Golf Course.
Colby, with one of its best finishes in many years, had a two-day total of 660. The Mules were just two shots back of second place University of Southern Maine and one back of Bowdoin College. Husson College easily won the tourney with a 619.
Noering shot a 78 on Friday and added an 82 in the second round for a 160 total. Harry Smith (82-82) and Tripp Huber (81-83) both carded a two-day total of 164 to finish in a tie for 10th place overall. Taggie Martin had a 172 total after shooting an 82 on Saturday.
The Mules are scheduled to host the Sid Farr Invitational at Waterville Country Club on Sunday at noon. Colby competes in the NESCAC tourney next Saturday and Sunday at Williams.
