WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College's Katrina Gravel (Peabody, Mass.), who won the individual title at the State of Maine Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday, was selected as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Women's Performer of the Week for women's cross country Monday.

Gravel set a course record at the Colby trail with a time of 18 minutes, 59.50 seconds to win the race by more than 15 seconds over teammate and runner-up Emma Linhard. She helped the Mules win the team title for the 10th time in program history and for the fifth time in the past six years in the eight-team field.

Gravel, a senior, is the first Colby runner to win the title since her former teammate Karen Prisby won in 2006. Seven Colby runners have won 11 titles since 1990.

The Mules will take this weekend off before competing in the NESCAC Cross Country Championships on Sunday, November 1, at Wickham Park in Manchester, Conn. (hosted by Trinity College).
