WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College's Katrina Gravel (Peabody Veterans Memorial/Peabody, Mass.), a three-sport captain this past academic year, was named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1 Women's Track and Field/Cross Country Team on Friday. Gravel earned second team honors and was one of just four New England Small College Athletic Conference student-athletes named to the women's team. District I represents colleges in New York and New England. Gravel, a senior, was an All-American in cross country this past season and was the Maine State champion. She competed in cross country nationals three times in her four years at Colby. Gravel won the NESCAC title in the 5,000 meters this spring and captured the 10,000 meters at the New England Division III meet. She also was fourth in the 5,000 meters at the ECAC meet. An All-NESCAC selection in cross country and track and field, Gravel was honored with Colby's Margaret Bither Award for academic ability, athletic ability, and leadership in athletics and on campus. She also earned six All-NESCAC academic honors. Gravel, who just graduated last month, was an English major at Colby.
