Pistel, Crook both named to IWLCA second team

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Lexi Crook (South Burlington, Vt.) and Kate Pistel (Amherst, Mass.) each were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-American Second Team.

The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on June 11, 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa. Crook and Pistel are both All-Americans for the first time.

Crook and Pistel were both named All-Americans on Thursday by Synapse Sports (formerly womenslacrosse.com). Crook was named to the second team and Pistel was selected to the third team. Crook and Pistel had previously earned IWLCA All-Region First Team honors, while the pair also were on the All-New England Small College Athletic Conference First Team.

Crook, part of a senior class which made four straight NCAA Division III Tournament appearances and four trips in a row to the NESCAC title game (winning twice), had 125 groundballs, 85 draw controls, and 72 caused turnovers in her career. She led the Mules this year in groundballs (43), was tied for first in caused turnovers (19), and had 24 draw controls. Crook was recently honored with Colby's Millett Award for contributing the most to Colby Athletics in her four years.

Pistel continued to show her all-around skills in her second year at Colby with 27 goals, 14 assists, 33 groundballs, 28 draw controls, and tying for a team-high 19 caused turnovers. She has 55 goals, 18 assists, 65 groundballs, 59 draw controls, and 44 caused turnovers in two years. Pistel was on the Synapse Sports All-Rookie Team a year ago.
