WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College senior Anna King (St. Thomas Aquinas/Greenland, N.H.) earned New England Small College Athletic Conference Cross Country All-Conference honors Tuesday after taking eighth place in the league meet on Saturday.

King had a time of 22 minutes, 51.92 seconds over the 5-kilometer course at Mt. Greylock High School near Williams College on Saturday. She earned NESCAC second team honors for the finish.

King, a two-time All-American in the 3,000-meter steeplechase during the outdoor track season, had her highest finish ever at the conference meet. She was 15th during her first year at Colby while running on her home course, took 24th place as a sophomore, and was 20th last year.

With three meets left in the season for Colby, King has already taken second at the State of Maine Championships and 13th place at the Open New England meet with Division I, II, and III runners. The New England Division III NCAA qualifier is set for November 11 at Connecticut College. King is aiming to make the NCAA meet for the fourth straight year.

King placed 49th at the NCAA meet in 2004, was 84th as a sophomore, and took 57th place last year. This year's meet is set for November 17 at St. Olaf (Minn.) College.
