WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College quarterback Nick Kmetz (Laurel, Del.), who had four touchdown passes in the second half in a comeback win over Tufts University, was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Sunday.
Kmetz threw for 273 yards on 16-for-26 passing and also rushed for 53 yards to accumulate 323 yards of total offense in the Mules' 34-31 win Saturday. Colby trailed 21-7 early in the third quarter, but Kmetz caught fire and threw four touchdown passes in the second half to three different receivers. All four of the touchdown passes were 26 yards or longer.
In the latest NESCAC statistics, Kmetz ranks third in the conference in total offense (230.4 yards per game), fourth in passing yardage (202.1), and fourth in pass efficiency (112.3). Colby ranks fifth in the conference as a team in total offense at 310.9 yards per game and the Mules have scored 84 points during their current three-game win streak.
Kmetz has 1,415 yards passing this season and 10 touchdowns. He also has ran for two touchdowns and has 198 yards of rushing.
Colby (4-3) closes out the season at Bowdoin College on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The Mules can clinch a Colby-Bates-Bowdoin (CBB) Championship with a victory, but have already clinched at least a tie for the title.
