WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College women's lacrosse coach Karen MacCrate Henning was honored as the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association New England Region Division III Coach of the Year after helping the Mules to a second straight New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) title. MacCrate Henning was named the Pilgrim Region Coach of the Year last year when the IWLCA split the New England Region in two groups. She was the lone New England Coach of the Year this season. MacCrate Henning will enter her third year as Colby's women's lacrosse coach in the 2009-10 academic year after leading the Mules to a 29-8 record and back-to-back NESCAC titles in her first two years. She has a 132-29 career record in two years at Colby and eight years at C.W. Post. Henning had a 103-21 record at C.W. Post and won NCAA Division II titles in 2001 and 2007. She was the IWLCA Division II National Coach of the Year after the championship seasons. Henning, a two-time All-American player at the University of Maryland, was one of five coaches to earn NCAA Division III regional honors. She was the NESCAC Coach of the Year following the 2008 season. Colby set a program record for wins this past season with a 16-2 record and a second straight trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament. 2009 IWLCA Coaches of the Year
