WATERVILLE, Maine --- Three first-year players scored four straight goals to break a 5-5 tie and help the Colby College men's lacrosse team capture a 9-7 non-conference victory over Endicott College on Tuesday night at Bill Alfond Field.

Endicott (1-3) had tied the game at 5-5 with 3:52 left in the third period after trailing 5-3. John Jennings (Danvers, Mass.) scored his first collegiate goal with 50 seconds left in the period for what proved to  be the game-winning goal. Jennings then tallied on the man-up off a feed from another first-year player --- Greg McKillop (Washington, D.C.) --- with just five seconds remaining in the period for a 7-5 margin.

The Mules (1-1) added two important goals in the opening 3:27 of the fourth period. Ian Deveau (Portsmouth, R.I.) scored his first collegiate goal on a man-up with another assist from McKillop with just 22 seconds gone in the period. Derrik Flahive (Littleton, Colo.) put in his first goal in a Colby uniform with 11:33 to play for a 9-5 margin.

The Gulls did battle back when Brian Vincent (Norwalk, Conn.) scored with 7:08 to play from Jack Curtis (Chelmsford, Mass.). Endicott added one more goal with just nine seconds to play from Connor Prescott (Norwalk, Conn.).

Junior Craig Bunker did not have a point on the night, but his role was crucial again for the Mules. Bunker was 16-for-18 in face-offs and picked up 11 groundballs to help Colby to numerous key possessions. Bunker has 299 career face-off wins in just his third season.

McKillop also had one goal to go along with his two assists. Whit McCarthy (Darien, Conn.), Stew Brown (Wilton, Conn.), Alex Boches (Beverly, Mass.), and Mark Squicciarino (Titusville, N.J.) also had Colby goals.

Jonathan Prentice (Chelmsford, Mass.) led Endicott with a pair of goals. Curtis had one goal and one assist.

Thomas Gianakos (Simsbury, Conn.) had 11 saves in net for the Mules, while Eric Hagarty (Sudbury, Mass.) had nine stops for the Gulls.
