WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College sophomore Alyssa Lepore (Victor, N.Y.), who had eight extra-base hits and batted .667 in five games last week, was honored as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Lepore batted 12-for-18 and had two homers to go along with six doubles in Colby’s 4-1 week. In a three-game series with NESCAC rival Trinity College, Lepore was 7-for-11 and had both home runs against the Bantams. Her two-run home run in the sixth inning of the second game of the series helped Colby tie the game at 8-8 after trailing 8-2 at one point. Colby went on to a 9-8 victory in 12 innings.
Lepore also had three walks and no strikeouts to have an on-base percentage of .714 in the five games. The Mules beat Maine Maritime Academy, Maine-Farmington, and took two of three games from Trinity.
In the latest NESCAC statistics, Lepore ranks first in the conference in doubles (14) and sixth in batting average (.420). Lepore is first on the Mules in batting average, doubles, total hits (29), slugging percentage (.754), total bases (52), and on-base percentage (.481). She is also batting a team-best .487 with runners on base.
