WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College’s Emma Linhard (Brunswick/Brunswick, Maine) took second at the Maine State Championships on Saturday to help the Mules win the team title and Monday was honored as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Linhard was runner-up in a field of 115 runners with a time of 18 minutes, 49.6 seconds over the 5-kilometer course at Twin Brook Recreation Area in Cumberland, Maine. Her placing helped the Mules to a score of 30 in easily winning the title in the eight-team field.

Linhard has been the top Colby runner in three meets so far this season. She was fifth at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Invitational and 57th at the Open New England Championship.

Linhard is coming off a fine first season at Colby last year. She helped the cross country team place 11th at the NCAA Division III meet, she was an All-American in the distance medley relay event at the NCAA indoor track and field meet, and ran in the 1,500-meter run at the NCAA outdoor meet.
