WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College goalkeeper Dan Marden (Londonderry/Londonderry, N.H.), who had back-to-back shutouts this past weekend, was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending October 19.

Marden, a junior, made 12 saves in Colby’s 1-0-1 week as the Mules earned a 1-0 victory over Connecticut College on Saturday and a 0-0 tie with 24th-ranked Williams College in Sunday’s game. He stopped five shots as the Mules earned a key victory over Conn College in a race for a NESCAC playoff position. Marden came up big again with seven stops against Williams, which is second in the league standings at 4-2-1.

Marden’s big weekend has catapulted him into the latest NESCAC statistics. He ranks first in the league in save percentage (.923) and second in goals against average (0.44). Marden has played 407 minutes this season, has a 2-1-1 record, and owns two shutouts and one shared shutout.

The Mules (5-5-1 overall, 2-4-1 NESCAC) entertain local rival Thomas College at 3:30 p.m. Thursday and then play a home league game against Bowdoin College at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
