Men's basketball falls in title game

BABSON PARK, Mass. --- Washington University had three players with 20 points or more to make up for a big game from Colby College's Drew Cohen to take a 79-71 victory in the title game of the Babson College/Irving Oil Men's Basketball Invitational on Saturday.
Troy Ruths had 24 points, Tyler Nading added 23 points and Danny O'Boyle finished with 20 for Washington U. (2-0), which had a 37-35 lead at halftime. Cohen, Colby's center, finished with 26 points, 14 rebounds and five blocked shots. Nick Farrell, who had 31 points in a win over Babson on Friday night, added 16 points and three assists for the Mules. Mark Gaudet had 15 points and five rebounds, while Artie Cutrone was 3-for-3 from the field and had eight points. Farrell and Gaudet made the all-tournament team for Colby, while Ruths was the MVP for Washington U. The Mules only trailed 61-59 after a lay-up by Cohen with seven minutes left in the second half. Washington U. went on a 9-0 run over the next four minutes to pull away. The Mules got the lead down to seven points on a few occasions in the final three minutes, but came no closer than that deficit. Babson took an 84-72 win over Vassar College in the consolation game.
