BRUNSWICK, Maine --- Michael Westbrooks sank the biggest shot of his collegiate career with one second left to lift the Colby College men's basketball team to a 68-67 victory over Bowdoin College in non-conference play Saturday.

Bowdoin (5-3) had taken a 67-66 lead over the Mules (5-3) when Kevin Bradley knocked down a 3-point shot with 13 seconds remaining. Colby called time and got the ball into point guard Nick Farrell's hands. He went to the baseline and was promptly double-teamed  and got the ball back out to Westbrooks, who drove to the center of the lane and hit a jumper from about 10 feet for the winning points.

Colby junior guard Mark Gaudet had a game-high 21 points and added three assists. He shot 5-for-7 from 3-point range and was 4-of-4 from the foul line. Gaudet hit three of his five treys in the first half to give the Mules a 34-31 lead at the break.

Farrell had 14 points, seven assists and just one turnover to continue his solid play this season. He headed into the week leading the New England Small College Athletic Conference in scoring. Drew Cohen returned from an injury with 11 points and five rebounds, while Westbrooks had 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Adam Choice, Colby's first-year forward, played 33 minutes and contributed five points, seven rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.

Bradley paced the Polar Bears with 18 points and six assists, while Jordan Fliegel had 13 points and nine boards.

Bowdoin led 46-39 with 14:07 left to play in the game after using a 12-1 run to pull away. The Mules battled back and eventually took the lead on a Farrell 3-point shot with five minutes remaining. Colby had a lead of four points when Bowdoin's Kyle Jackson nailed a 3-point shot with 38 seconds left to make the score 65-64. Farrell hit one of his two free throw attempts before Bradley gave Bowdoin the lead with 13 seconds left.

Colby shot 11-for-21 from 3-point range, including 5-of-8 in the second half.

Colby returns to action in the Maine Event on Friday, December 29 against University of Southern Maine in a 7:30 p.m. game at St. Joseph's College.
