WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College’s Nick Farrell (Aspen, Colo.) scored a collegiate-high 39 points and went over 1,000 career points in his final regular season home game at Wadsworth Gymnasium as the Mules took an 81-67 victory over rival Bowdoin College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game Saturday.

Farrell became the 33rd player in Colby men’s basketball history to reach 1,000 points and he joins teammate Drew Cohen (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) as part of the 1,000-point club. Cohen reached the milestone earlier this season. Farrell needed 21 points to reach 1,000 and now has 1,018 points.

Farrell had 15 of Colby’s points in a 30-29 lead at halftime after the Mules (12-10, 3-4 NESCAC) fell behind 27-11 with 7:51 left in the first half. Colby went on a 12-0 run fueled by consecutive 3-point shots by Artie Cutrone (Garden City, N.Y.), Farrell and Jon Bandi (Winchester, Mass.). Nick Planeta (Westwood, Mass.) added a 3-point play to complete the run and make the score 27-23.

Farrell had 24 points in the second half and Mark Gaudet (Bingham, Maine) had 11 of his 13 points to help the Mules pull away. Gaudet was 8-for-8 from the foul line in the second half and is shooting 95 percent (37-for-39) for the season.

Farrell shot 11-for-19 from the field, including 7-for-12 from 3-point range, and was 10-for-12 from the foul line. Cohen played with foul trouble but still had seven points and 10 rebounds, while Michael Westbrooks (Dublin, Ireland) had seven points and nine rebounds (six offensive).

Kevin Bradley (Seekonk, Mass.) led Bowdoin (12-8, 2-5) with 19 points, four assists and four steals. Andrew Hippert (Spencer, Mass.) chipped in with 16 points and Jordan Fliegel (Cambridge, Mass.) had 13 points.
