WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College senior point guard Nick Farrell (Aspen/Aspen, Colo.) was named as a DIII News honorable mention All-American on Tuesday and also was selected as an All-Northeast Region selection by D3hoops.com.
Farrell, who led the New England Small College Athletic Conference in scoring this year, was one of just two NESCAC players honored by DIII News. Amherst College’s Andrew Olson was named to the second team.
Farrell was selected as a guard to the D3hoops.com second team and was one of five league players on the first two teams. Farrell earned NESCAC first-team honors earlier this season.
Farrell led the conference in scoring at 19 points per game and was fourth in steals (46 total, 1.77 spg), sixth in free throw percentage (.787) and seven in assists per game (3.81). Farrell ranks in a tie for eighth nationally in made 3-point field goals per game (3.7).
Farrell scored 495 points this season, including a 39-point effort in a league win over Bowdoin College on February 3. He also had more than 30 points this year in games against Maine Maritime Academy (35), Middlebury College (32) and Babson College (31). Farrell tied a school record with nine made 3-point field goals in a victory over Maine Maritime.
Farrell closed out his career at Colby with 1,087 points, 395 assists and 168 steals. He shot nearly 76 percent from the foul line (160-for-212) over four years.
The Mules finished 15-11 this season and made the NESCAC Final Four before falling in a semifinal game. Farrell earned NESCAC Player of the Week honors three times during the season.
