WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Colby College men's cross country team improved in point totals at the Maine State Championships and the New England Small College Athletic Conference meet a year ago as the Mules steadily improve over the past few years.

The Mules open the season Saturday at the Class Wave Carnival at Pineland Farms (hosted by Bates College). The men's junior/senior race starts at 10:30 a.m. and the women's junior and seniors go off at 11 a.m.

Senior captain Andy Maguire, senior Ben Cunkelman, and sophomores Luke Doherty Munro and Brian Desmond should all be top four runners for head coach Jared Beers.

Tom Letourneau '13, John Williams '13, Sam Grant '12, Mike Langley '13, Nick Papanastassiou '13, Chris Halladay '12, Justin Rouse '12, Alec Peters '13, and Will Supple '12 all will contend for top seven spots.

First-years Matthew Cloherty and Dylan Nisky both performed well in a preseason time trial, each placing in the top 14.
