WATERVILLE, Maine --- Wil Hartigan (Arlington, Mass.) had assists on all four goals and Billy Crinnion (Long Island, N.Y.) had the game-winning goal with just 1:25 left in regulation to lead the Colby College men's hockey team to a 4-3 win over Connecticut College on Friday night at Alfond Rink.
The Mules (9-2-3 overall, 5-2-3 New England Small College Athletic Conference) are riding a 12-game unbeaten streak at 9-0-3 heading into Saturday's 3 p.m. home game with Tufts University. Connecticut College, which plays at Bowdoin College on Saturday at 4 p.m., falls to 3-11-1 overall and 2-7-1 in the conference.
The Mules have the longest unbeaten streak since the 1995-96 team won 11 in a row. The record for the longest unbeaten streak is 19 games (17-0-2) by the 1961-62 squad.
The Camels got off to a quick start and led 2-0 after the opening period. Michael O'Donnell (Winchester, Mass.) scored just 2:40 into the contest and Sean Curran (Wilmette, Ill.) tallied on the power play with just 44 seconds left to intermission.
Colby finished the night at 3-for-7 on the power play and scored two goals in the second period with the extra man. Crinnion, Colby's leading scorer with 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points, cut the margin in half with a power play goal at 4:50. Hartigan and Jesse Lehman (Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) each had an assist on the Crinnion goal and then assisted on a power play score by Mike Doherty (Lynnfield, Mass.) just 2:09 later to tie the game.
Chris Buonomo (Edison, N.J.) put the Mules up for the first time at 6:42 of the third period, but the Camels' Brett Moore (Medfield, Mass.) made it 3-3 with 5:54 to play in the game.
Connecticut College was called for a tripping penalty with 2:02 left in the game and the Mules made them pay when Crinnion got his second goal off passes from Hartigan and Doherty.
Cody McKinney (Weston, Fla.) stopped 16 shots for the Mules, while Greg Parker (Trenton, Ontario) kept the Camels in the game with 29 saves.
