MANCHESTER, N.H. --- Greg Osborne capped off a big week with two goals and two assists and Ben Grandjean made 45 saves in goal to power the Colby College men's hockey team to a 7-3 victory over Saint Anselm College on Saturday.
Osborne had six goals and three assists in a 2-1 week for the Mules (5-4-2). He leads Colby in scoring this year with 11 goals and six assists for 17 points and now has 81 career points (38 goals, 43 assists). Grandjean also was solid with a shutout of Curry on Tuesday, a tough 2-1 loss at New England College on Friday and then the 45-save effort against Saint Anselm (4-5-1). Colby scored all seven of its goals in the final 10 minutes of periods, including six of the seven in the final three minutes. With the Hawks up 1-0, Mike Butler tallied at 17:42 of the first period and was followed by Matt Strickland scoring at 19:05 to help the Mules take a 2-1 edge into intermission. Saint Anselm managed to tie the game in the second period at 9:54, but T.J. Kelley put Colby up for good with a goal at 11:33. Patrick Rutherford got the eventual game-winning goal at 18:00 and Osborne got his first goal of the game a minute later for a 5-2 lead after two periods. The final three goals all happened in the final 2:07 of the third period. Derek Evjenth scored at 17:53 for the Hawks, but Greg Valenski and Osborne added unassisted goals in the final 1:56 of the game.
