BABSON PARK, Mass. --- Babson College used three straight goals at the end of the second period and in the first 10 minutes of the third to pull away for a 5-3 victory over Colby College in men's hockey Saturday.
Colby's Eric Simmons had tied the game at 2-2 at 12:57 of the second period. Babson (2-0) went ahead for good when Jason Schneider scored with just 53 seconds left in the period. Babson scored 34 seconds into the third period and added another goal at 9:10 to go up 5-2. Colby first-year player Wil Hartigan got the final goal of the game. Allowing late goals hurt Colby (1-1) in the opening two periods. After Babson went up 1-0 at 17:31 of the first period, the Mules promptly tied the game when T.J. Kelley scored at 18:51. Babson, though, scored with just 29 seconds left in the period to take a 2-1 margin into intermission.
