GORHAM, Maine --- Chris Sparkes scored four goals as the University of Southern Maine men's hockey team took a 5-3 win over Colby College on Tuesday night in non-conference play.
Colby (3-2-1) had a 1-0 lead after the first period on a goal by Mike Policinski. USM (4-3) scored three straight goals to take the lead for good in the second period. Sparkes tallied at 6:12 and 14:23, while teammate Kyle Smith scored at 17:43. The Mules did manage to make it a 3-2 game when T.J. Kelley scored on the power play at 18:27. Sparkes put the Huskies back up by two goals when he tallied just 37 seconds into the third period. Colby's Patrick Rutherford made it 4-3 with a goal at 2:10 on the power play, but Sparkes scored again at 17:21.
