WATERVILLE, Maine --- The captains of the Colby College and Bowdoin College men's hockey teams each scored two goals as the teams played to a 3-3 tie before a standing room only crowd at Colby's Alfond Rink on Saturday night.
Colby captain Greg Osborne (Stoughton, Mass.) had a pair of goals and Bowdoin captain Bryan Ciborowski (W. Springfield, Mass.) also had two goals. Ciborowski scored with 3:09 left in regulation to help Bowdoin (4-0-3) earn the tie.
The Polar Bears took a 5- 2 win on their home ice on Friday night in Brunswick.
Bowdoin got the only goal of the first period when Ciborowski tallied at 16:25 of the period.
Colby (3-3-2) took the lead in a hurry in the second period. Osborne scored at 1:29 and then just 15 seconds later first-year player Mike Policinski (Shorewood, Minn.) made it 2-1 Mules. The Polar Bears tied it at 2-2 at 16:15 of the second period on a goal by Mitch Dillon (Aurora, Ontario), but the Mules scored just 10 seconds later when Osborne scored off an assist from Matt Strickland (Leduc, Alberta).
Ciborowski got his game-tying goal at 16:51 of the third period off an assist from Matt Lentini (Belmont, Mass.). Bowdoin had a goal waved off in overtime after the cage had become loose just before the puck went into the net.
Polar Bear goalkeeper Paul DeCoster (Averill Park, N.Y.) had 30 saves, while Colby goalie Ben Grandjean (Waterford, Conn.) made 25 stops.
