AMHERST, Mass. --- Greg Osborne scored on the power play with 3:19 left in the game to power the Colby College men's hockey team to a 5-4 victory over Amherst College on Saturday in New England Small College Athletic Conference/ECAC East play.
The two teams went into the third period at 4-4 and appeared to be heading to overtime until Amherst (12-6-1, 9-5-1 NESCAC) picked up a penalty with 4:56 remaining. Osborne got his 17th goal of the season and his 30th point of the year off assists from Josh Reber and T.J. Kelley.
Colby (10-7-2, 8-6-1) led 2-1 after one period on goals by Michael Belliveau and Kelley.
The teams combined for five goals in the second period as the Mules got an unassisted tally from Matt Ahern for his first goal of the season. Kelley scored with just 1:19 left in the period to give Colby a 4-3 lead, but Amherst's Sean Ellis tallied with only 31 seconds remaining to tie the game.
Ben Grandjean stopped 29 shots for the Mules. A.J. Scola made 40 stops for Amherst.
