Minty third in San Francisco race

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Jess Minty (Concord-Carlisle/Concord, Mass.) has not lost a step since graduating from Colby College in May.

The All-American runner finished in third place out of more than 7,100 runners at the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco on October 22.

Minty finished the 13.1-mile race in a time of one hour, 27 minutes, eight seconds over a hilly course in San Francisco. In the Tufts Health Plan 10K for Women race on October 9, Minty placed 34th out of more than 7,000 runners with a time of 37:23.

Minty earned All-America honors in cross country and indoor track and field during her four years at Colby. She finished in second place in the 800 meters at the indoor national meet in 2005 and earned numerous All-New England and All-NESCAC honors. Minty also earned All-America honors in cross country for her top 20 finish at the 2005 NCAA meet.

Minty helped the women's cross country team place fifth two years in a row at the NCAA Championship meet in 2004 and 2005. She was a seven-time NESCAC All-Academic selection and earned CoSIDA District 1 All-Academic honors.
