MIDDLETOWN, Conn. --- Colby College’s Caddy Brooks reached 150 career points, but the 14th-ranked Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team opened up a 7-2 halftime lead on the way to an 11-3 win over the Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday. Colby falls to 5-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play, while Wesleyan improves to 8-2 overall and 4-2 in the league. Brooks had assists on all three goals by Whit McCarthy, who leads the team with 27 goals and nine assists for 36 points. Brooks, who has a team-best 15 assists this year, has 84 goals and 67 assists for 151 career points. Colby took a 2-0 lead and was in the game in the opening quarter. McCarthy scored just 1:38 into the game and added his second goal with 8:59 to play in the period. Wesleyan went ahead 3-2 after one quarter with three goals in the final 4:33 of play. The Cardinals then scored four more goals in the second quarter to take a 7-2 lead into the break.
