WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College senior Drew Piekarski (East Sandwich, Mass.) and junior Caddy Brooks (Darien, Conn.) were both named to the 2008 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) All-New England Team on Tuesday.
Piekarski was named to the second team as a midfielder and Brooks was an attacker on the second team.
Piekarski finished the season with 25 goals and two assists for 27 points. He earned New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors in the first week of the season after his overtime goal helped the Mules take a 9-8 win over eventual NESCAC champion Williams. Piekarski finished his career at Colby with 57 goals and 12 assists for 69 points.
Brooks finished the season with 30 goals and 16 assists for 46 points. He also led the Mules in ground balls with 55 and shot percentage (.429). Brooks, the NESCAC Rookie of the Year in 2006, tied for the team lead in scoring as a first-year player and led the Mules in scoring as a sophomore.
Brooks was tied for third in the conference in points per game (3.29) and was seventh in goals per game (2.14). He heads into his final year at Colby next spring with 70 goals and 52 assists for 122 career points.
