WATERVILLE, Maine --- The third-ranked Amherst College men’s soccer team jumped out to a 3-0 lead at halftime and added three more goals in the second half on the way to a 6-1 win against Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday.
Taylor Downs (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.), John Kneeland (Holden, Mass.) and Nick Lynch (Kingston, Jamaica) tallied in the first 32:42 of the opening half. Amherst (10-0, 7-0 NESCAC) tallied in the opening minute of the second half on a goal by Duker before Colby (4-5-1, 1-5-1 NESCAC) scored at 66:03 on a goal by Duy Lyford (South China, Maine). Ian Rothkopf (Harvard, Mass.) and Ryan Conti (Rochester, N.Y.) added goals in the final 12 minutes for the Lord Jeffs.
