NEW LONDON, Conn. --- Colby College goalkeeper Dan Marden kept the Mules in the game with a season-high 12 saves in a 1-0 loss to Connecticut College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday.
Colby falls to 4-7-2 overall and 1-6-1 in the conference. The Mules are still battling for the eighth and final playoff spot with Bates College and Tufts University. The Mules host Bates at 3 p.m. Friday in the regular season finale.
Conn College (8-3-1 overall, 5-3 NESCAC) had a 20-8 advantage in shots, but Marden made a number of fine stops to give his team a chance.
Oscar Brown's goal from Brian Morgan at 10:21 of the opening half proved to be the only goal the Camels would need. Alex Martland had three saves in net for Conn College.
