FARMINGTON, Maine --- Mike Butler scored on a penalty kick for what proved to be the game-winning goal as the Colby College men's soccer team took a 2-1 win over University of Maine at Farmington on Tuesday.
The Mules (4-4-1) opened the scoring and led 1-0 at halftime when Logan King booted in a direct kick at 17:08 of the first half.
The Mules were awarded a penalty kick at 55:19 and Butler converted for his first goal of the season.
Ryan Pelletier cut the lead in half for UMF (4-4-3) just 3:59 after Butler's score to make it 2-1. Colby, which had a 27-8 advantage in a shots, kept the Beavers off the scoreboard for the final 30 minutes.
Dan Marden made four saves in goal for Colby, which plays host to Amherst College at 11 a.m. Saturday.
