GORHAM, Maine -- Junior Jamie Waters (Andover, Mass.) scored the lone goal of the match at 22:59 of the first half to give Colby College a 1-0 victory over University of Southern Maine in a non-conference men's soccer match Wednesday afternoon at the USM Soccer Field.
The win was the second straight for the Mules who improved to 2-1-2 overall. The Huskies dropped their fourth straight match to fall to 4-6-0 overall.
Waters one-timed a rolling ball from just outside the 18-yard area into the left side of the net. The goal was Waters' first of the season.
Senior goalkeeper Josh Kahane (Newton, Mass.) made three saves in the Colby goal to earn his second shutout of the season. USM senior goalie Chris Willard (Willimantic, Conn.) was credited with five saves. The Mules enjoyed a 15-6 advantage in shots and an 8-0 margin in corner kicks.
Colby will be at home on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. against Middlebury College.
