Soto finishes weekend 2-1 for men's squash

AMHERST, Mass. --- Darryl Soto was the lone Colby College men's squash player to go 2-1 on the weekend  as the Mules fell in three matches to Amherst (5-4), Columbia (7-2), and St. Lawrence (9-0).

Soto took a thrilling 3-2 (14-12, 5-11, 11-7, 6-11, 11-6) win over Amherst's Quan Miranda Rodrigo at the ninth position. He also took an easier 3-0 (11-7, 11-6, 11-9) victory against Columbia's Anchit Navar.

First position player Harry Smith won 3-2 (5-11, 3-11), 11-5, 12-10, 11-3) in comeback fashion against Andrew Kriete of Amherst. He then had a reverse situation in a loss to Columbia's Graham Miao. Smith won 11-2 and 11-8 to open a 2-0 lead, but Miao fought back with 11-7, 11-9, 11-9 scores to pull out the match.

Will Sullivan and Steve Carroll also had 3-2 victories over Amherst. Sullivan fell behind 2-0 before winning 11-3, 12-10, 11-7 over the final three games at the second spot, while Carroll won 11-7, 4-11, 11-9, 2-11, 11-8 at the seventh position.

Peter Gabranski won at the eighth spot for Colby in the match against Columbia.
