WATERVILLE, Maine --- Daniel Kiernan (Roxbury Latin/Brookline, Mass.) and Josh Kahane (Newton North/Newton, Mass.) were co-captains for the Colby College men's soccer team and now they share New England Small College Athletic Conference all-conference honors.
Kiernan and Kahane were named to the second team on Thursday. Kiernan also made the second team last year and went on to earn All-New England second team honors.
Kiernan, who recently earned CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine District I All-Academic second team honors, was Colby's leading scorer in 2004, but moved back to defense to help out in that capacity for his junior and senior seasons.
Kiernan finished his career at Colby with nine goals and 12 assists for 30 points, including leading the team with four goals and five assists for 13 points in his second year at Colby.
Kahane allowed just 17 goals in 13 starts while posting a 5-5-3 record and a 1.27 goals against average this past season. He kept the Mules (6-5-3) in a number of games this year against nationally ranked opponents from the NESCAC.
Kahane finished his career with the Mules with a 13-13-3 record, 136 saves and seven shutouts. He saw limited time in his first two years before earning the starting job as a junior.
Kiernan and Kahane each earned NESCAC Fall All-Academic honors in 2005 and are both expected to be on the squad again this year when the team is announced next week.
