BRUNSWICK, Maine --- The Colby College men's swimming and diving team heads into the New England Small College Athletic Conference Championship meet starting Friday and ending Sunday at Bowdoin College with some expectations after finishing in fifth place last year.
The finish was the best ever for the Mules and Colby followed that up this year with a 6-2 dual meet record.
Senior All-American Jabez Dewey will be a key in the backstroke races. He placed second in the 50 backstroke, fourth in the 100 and fifth in the 200 at last year's league meet.
Evan Mullin was fifth in the 200 freestyle last year in the NESCAC meet. The Mules will need points as well from Patrick Dean and Andrew Peterson in the breaststroke races, Sam Wampler in the freestyle sprints, Ian Cross in the diving events, Mitch Bartkiewicz in the butterfly and individual medley races and Kevin Smith in the distance freestyle races.
Competition will get underway each day with preliminary heats at 10:00 a.m. Finals will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, 5:50 p.m. Saturday, and a 5:30 p.m. start on Sunday. Tickets are $4 per session or $20 for a weekend pass for adults and $2 per session or $10 for the weekend for children and students.
