Gross, Roberts lead men's swim team

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. --- Ben Gross placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle and Mason Roberts swam to a fifth in the 50 breaststroke for Colby College on the opening night of the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday night at Williams College.

Gross had an NCAA 'B' cut qualifying time of 20.99 in the 50 freestyle, while Roberts had a 26.71 in the 50 breaststroke. Ryan Trafton also made a championship final and placed sixth in the 50 butterfly with a 23.40 clocking (23.33 prelim).

Gross also teamed with Reilly Taylor, Kevin Smith, and Raymond Rieling in placing ninth in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:26.70. Smith also placed 12^th in the 500 freestyle (4:45.29) and Craig Zevin took 16^th in the 50 breaststroke (27.82, 27.60 prelim).

The team of Gross, Roberts, Trafton, and Smith also placed ninth in the 400 medley relay in 3:35.02.
