Smith sets record for Colby men's swim team

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. --- Kevin Smith broke his own school record by nearly nine seconds in taking third place in the 1,000-yard freestyle race at the NESCAC Men's Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday night.

Smith had a time of 9:38.31 to break his old record of 9:47.12 set two years ago.

Mason Roberts was eighth in the 100 breaststroke (59.40, 59.36 prelim) and Ben Gross took 14th in the 100 backstroke. Gross, Smith, David Hirsch, and Raymond Rieling combined to take seventh in the 800 freestyle relay in 7:05.96.
