Nordic men win third ski carnival event of year

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. --- The Colby College men's Nordic team had a dominating performance Friday, winning a ski carnival for the third time this season and placing four skiers in the top nine at the Williams College Ski Carnival.

Nick Kline (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished in second place in the 10-kilometer freestyle event in 23:24.6 to help the Mules earn 89 points. Bates College and Dartmouth College placed second with 79 points and Middlebury was fourth in the 11-team field with 78 points.

Matt Briggs took fourth for Colby in 23:39.4, Wyatt Fereday was seventh with a 23:49.3, Sam Mathes took ninth in 24:03.3, and Silas Gill finished 11th in 24:07.0.

In nine carnival races this season, the Colby men have three victories, three seconds, two thirds, and one fourth.

Kathleen Maynard took 17th place in the women's 5K freestyle in 13:32.8 for the eighth place Colby women.
