STOWE, Vt. --- The Colby College men's Nordic team won for the second time this season as Wyatt Fereday (Boise, Idaho) took fourth place overall in the freestyle sprint event at the University of Vermont ski carnival on Saturday at Stowe.
The Mules continue to stake claim as one of the top three teams in the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA). Colby, which had never won a Nordic ski carnival race before this season, has captured two of the six events so far this season. The Mules have been in the top four in all six races.
While Fereday continues to have a fine first year for the Mules, Colby also got a fifth from Nick Kline (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and a sixth from Silas Gill (East Burke, Vt.). Sam Mathes (Rome, Maine) took 13th for the Mules.
Colby had 87 points to win the event by three points over Dartmouth College (84) and 12 over Middlebury (75) in the 11-team field.
The Colby women placed ninth as Kathleen Maynard (Jackson, N.H.) took 30th place.
