Garrec 19th in freestyle at NCAA meet

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. --- Lucy Garrec (Freeport, Maine) placed 19th in the women's 15-kilometer freestyle (mass start) for the Colby College Nordic team on the final day of the NCAA Skiing Championships on Saturday in Colorado.

The Colby ski program (Nordic and alpine combined) had a team score of 172.5 to finish in 13th place. Denver University won the national title.

Garrec had a time of 44 mintues, 6.4 seconds to crack the top 20 in a field of 39 skiers. The sophomore has been to the NCAA meet in both of her years at Colby.

Wyatt Fereday (Boise, Idaho) placed 37th for the Colby men in a time of 53:25.2 over the men's 20-kilometer course.
