WATERVILLE, Maine --- Alyssa Lepore (Victor, N.Y.) finished the season with a .462 batting average for the Colby College softball team as the Mules ended the season with 8-0 and 7-1 losses to Tufts University in a NESCAC East doubleheader on Saturday.
Lepore, who drove in the lone run of the day in the second game, had team-highs in batting average, on-base percentage (.519), slugging percentage (.681), doubles (9), and RBI (26). She led the league at the start of the week in batting average.
Rebecca DiBiase (Wellesley, Mass.) tossed a five-hit shutout in the opener and Erin Gallagher (Brooklyn, N.Y.) went the distance in the nightcap for Tufts.
Lena Cantone (Southington, Conn.) went 4-for-4 with three runs scored for Tufts (22-11, 10-2 NESCAC East) in the opener. Emily Beinecke (Concord, Mass.) added three hits, three RBI, and two runs.
Christine Gillespie (North Andover, Mass.), Lepore, Lizzi Fort (Wilmette, Ill.), Barbara Santos (Topsfield, Mass.), and Alex Essman (Littleton, Mass.) had hits for the Mules in the first game. Santos finished the year with a .382 batting average.
In the second game, Beinecke had three more hits and drove in a pair of runs. Casey Sullivan (Berlin, Conn.) added a homer, triple, two runs, and two RBI.
Fort had two hits for Colby (11-19, 3-9 NESCAC East). Lepore had an RBI single to drive in Allyson Cheever (Augusta, Maine) with the lone Mule run. Essman, Santos, and Gillespie also had hits for Colby.
